This is more an experience than a hotel, purely for the discerning traveller who appreciates only the best and where money is no object. Situated in the Alfama district, beneath the walls of the St. George Castle with breathtaking views over Lisbon, could things get any better this? The answer is yes. A luxury Palace, the first in Lisbon with individually styled suites totalling just eleven. The building dates back to 1449 and it has been restored beautifully to encapsulate pure decadence. After five years of restoration the hotel exudes luxury, style and tradition with all the modern comforts. A stunning pool area with black marble surround and raised decking awaits you set amidst a peaceful hideaway. The Palacio Belmonte will leave a lasting impression with nothing else quite like it. Suite: Magnificent range of suites incorporating the best in local flare. Many of the rooms have magnificent views over the old town and down to the River Tages, and some have small / large patios, terraces or balconies that allow you to simply absorb the surroundings and drift to another place and time. The whole experience at the Palacio is simply magical. Bathroom: Beautifully styled bathrooms, no one being the same. Top of the range bathroom suites, marble surrounds, historical ruins carefully blended into the décor are just some of the features of these bathrooms, whilst each one also affords ample space and style. Reception: The reception is manned 24hrs a day and offers professional and friendly service. What is particularly refreshing about this establishment is their philosophy in affording the guests peace and space. They are there if you need them but not in your face. The feel of the hotel is have the guests feel as if they are at home and there are no formalities here. Restaurant: Dinners are currently by appointment and only for special events and functions in one of the events suites. There is no official restaurant. Breakfast room: Breakfast is served between 6.30am - 10.30am. It can also be served to your room on request. Lounge: Relax upstairs in the lounge or the library surrounded by original antique furnishings. Bar: The Cafe Belmonte is open from 10am to 7pm. Aside from serving coffee, teas, portugueses cakes, the ambiance is as you would expect, informal yet sophisticated. The Cafe Belmonte is dedicated to presenting some of the best natural products of Portugal : olive oil, cheese, wines, and even bread. Business facilities: Conference room available with state of the art facilities provided on request (at a charge). The rooms are excellent venues for private functions, especially weddings and parties as the Palacio Belmonte affords one of the most magical settings in the city and a property is steeped in local history. Family facilities: Some of the suites do have 2 bedrooms and are either split level or singular floor level. These are ideal for families with small children although the property is geared more towards an adult market. Disabled facilities: Not suitable. Within 20 minutes walk: "Alfama" Historical old town, sea front, restaurants, bars and shops. Additional Hotel FacilitiesPool: Nestled amidst the verdant backdrop of the trees and flowers is the charming little pool area with decked sun terrace and black marble surround. This is a relaxing hideaway and a perfect retreat within the heart of the city. Transport ConnectionsAirport(s): Bus 91, c. 3 - 4 Euros, stops at Rossio square, take a taxi for a 5 minute journey c. 5 Euros, journey time takes approx 40 mins. Taxi direct, c. 12-15 Euros, 30 mins. Train: There is a local bus stop / tram stop just under 300m from the hotel. The Hotel is in an elevated location, so there will always be a walk up or down to the bus stop. Parking: There is limited parking available in the courtyard of the Palacio Belmonte.
